Pittsburgh Steelers - Super Bowl Champs!

Posted in NFL Football, NFL Odds, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on February 2nd, 2009

Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes improvised the 6-yard touchdown with 35 seconds left that gave the Pittsburgh Steelers a record-setting sixth Super Bowl victory, 27-23 over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night.

“Great players step up in big-time games to make plays,” said Holmes, the game’s MVP. He said he told Roethlisberger that he “wanted to be the guy to make the plays for this team.”

The Steelers (15-4), winning their second Super Bowl in four seasons, led 20-7 in the fourth quarter, only to see Warner and the Cardinals stage a remarkable rally to go in front 23-20 with 2:37 remaining.

Roethlisberger and Holmes nailed it home, and when Warner fumbled in the final seconds, the Cardinals’ chance of winning their first NFL crown since 1947 was gone. The Cardinals (12-8), playing in their first Super Bowl since 1948, lost their cool after Harrison’s big play. They had three penalties to keep Pittsburgh’s 79-yard drive going, a 16-play march that ended with Jeff Reed’s 21-yard field goal for a 20-7 lead.

Posted in NFL Football, NFL Odds, Sportsbook Betting Tips, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on January 26th, 2009

Steelers Cardinals Football

The early betting puts Pittsburgh as the 70% favorites with Arizona at 30% underdogs. Those Super Bowl odds reflect the AFC representative’s consistency throughout the season - the Steelers have only lost four regular season games, all to teams who made the playoffs. Both teams have been matched at three figures in many - Pittsburgh at 99-1 and Arizona at 129-1 - as the season was underway. So as it stands, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the -7(-105) SuperBowl predictions favorite with the game total set to 46½( ov-110) .

2009 Super Bowl Odds - Steelers vs Cardinals

Posted in NFL Odds, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on January 21st, 2009

steelers 2009 superbowl champs

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a win over the Baltimore Ravens 23-14 to make it to the 2009 Super Bowl. The Steelers beat the Ravens for the third time in the same season. Good defenses may win championships, but not if your offense is as bad as the Ravens. It has been a crazy year, except one thing…the Steelers have remained consistent throughout the season, playing the toughest schedule. Most 2009 Super Bowl odds list Pittsburgh Steelers -7 favorites to Arizona Cardinals heading into the 2009 Super Bowl.

“It was a typical, hard-hitting, physical game. It’s the way every Baltimore-Pittsburgh game is,” said Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward “Sometimes guys get hit so hard, you don’t know if they’re going to get up. They say defense wins championships, well, we have the No. 1 defense. And they’re the reason why we’re really going to the Super Bowl.”

Steelers Advance to 2009 Super Bowl Against Cardinals

Posted in NFL Football, NFL Odds, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on January 19th, 2009

Steelers Polamalu
The Steelers advanced to their second Super Bowl in the last four seasons and the seventh in team history, holding Baltimore to just 198 yards of total offense. Including the playoffs, the Steelers have won eight of their last nine home games against the Ravens.

“Here’s my advice to the Arizona Cardinals: Don’t rush Ben Roethlisberger,” the Ravens’ Trevor Pryce said. “After that, he’s a playground football player. That’s what he is, and he’s a damn good one.”

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco finished with 141 passing yards, three interceptions and an 18.2 passer rating. Ben Roethlisberger finished with 255 passing yards and touchdown toss as he improved to 7-2 in the postseason. His seventh win passed Troy Aikman for the second-most playoff wins by a quarterback in his first five NFL seasons. Most oddsmakers that call the Super Bowl odds are giving the Steelers the win this year. I’d say that’s a safe bet.

Steelers Picked As Odds On Super Bowl Favorites

Posted in NFL Football, NFL Odds, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on January 12th, 2009

steelers
For the first time in almost 40 years, three road teams won SU during a single playoff weekend. The only home team to weather the storm was the Pittsburgh Steelers, while the other top seeds found themselves on the losing end of the scoreboard. The Steelers defeated the San Diego Chargers 35-24 as 6.5-point chalk on Sunday as the only home team to cash in the divisional round.

Running back Willie Parker ran for 146 yards on 27 carries with two touchdowns in his best game of the season for the Steelers, who held Chargers RB Darren Sproles to 15 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Pittsburgh hosts the rival Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game next Sunday, with the Steelers listed as early 5-point favorites.

Betting On the 2009 Super Bowl

Posted in NFL Football, NFL Odds, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on January 5th, 2009

new-york-giants-super-bowl
The top sports books favor the New York Giants over the 11 other teams in the NFL playoffs to win the Super Bowl, giving 2-to-1 odds on the NFC’s No. 1 seed to repeat as champions. The Tennessee Titans are the favorite among AFC teams to win a title at 4-1, closely followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers at 9-2.

The Giants have the easiest road to the Feb. 1 Super Bowl, while the AFC teams are more evenly matched, according to a top oddsmaker. “You want to be in the NFC,” he said. “The AFC is closer bunched — there’s not a lot of difference between your top seed and the six seed.”

The Giants have a first-round bye, then would have to beat either the Arizona Cardinals or the Atlanta Falcons to reach the NFC championship game. Sports books set 40-1 odds on the Cardinals winning the Super Bowl, and 15-1 on the Falcons.

2009 Super Bowl Odds

Posted in NFL Football, NFL Odds, Sportsbook Betting Tips, Super Bowl  by Sportsbook Bonus on February 24th, 2008

After last years New York Giants upset over the New England Patriots, here is a look at the 16 favored teams for 2009. Odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl are listed in parenthesis

New England Patriots (5:2)

The Patriots have the talent to win the whole thing next year, but how will their mental state be after losing the perfect season?

Dallas Cowboys (7:1)

Can Romo deliver a Super Bowl title next year. If he doesn’t, it could be the last season for Coach Wade Phillips.

Indianapolis Colts (8:1)

There is no better football family than the Manning’s, and Eli’s brother Peyton hopes that 2009 is his year to step back into the spotlight. The return of Coach Tony Dungy might help.

San Diego Chargers (8:1)

Philip Rivers showed a lot of guts in their playoff loss to New England and he hopes to be healthy by training camp. This is a very hungry team and the Chargers look to be undervalued at these odds.

New York Giants (12:1)

The defending Super Bowl champions would need another perfect storm to deliver another title. That said, we have learned never to count this team out.

Jacksonville Jaguars (15:1)

This fearless Jaguars’ team has everything going for it with the exception of being stuck in the same division as Indianapolis. If they can somehow win the AFC South, then look out in the playoffs.

Pittsburgh Steelers (20:1)

Head Coach Mike Tomlin acquitted himself nicely in his first season, although you never want to lose a playoff game at home. Look for a good year from this perennial AFC contender.

Chicago Bears (30:1)

The big question on this team continues to be at quarterback as free agent to be, Rex Grossman may not be the long term solution.

Denver Broncos (30:1)

Mike Shanahan is considered the Broncos ‘coach for life’ but he must help improve a defense that ranked 19th in the NFL last year. A quicker maturation of quarterback Jay Cutler would help too.

Seattle Seahawks (30:1)

Coach Mike Holmgren is returning to the team after contemplating opening a bookstore and selling muffins. With an attitude like that, expect this to be Holmgren’s last season.

Philadelphia Eagles (30:1)

Quarterback Donovan McNabb should be back with the team, but there are still some trade rumors out there. If McNabb returns, this is a potential sleeper team on this list.

Minnesota Vikings (30:1)

Minnesota started last season at 3-6, won their next five games, and then lost their last two to finish out of the playoffs. Look for Tarvaris Jackson to remain the starter at quarterback.

Cincinnati Bengals (40:1)

Wide receiver Chad Johnson wants to be traded and the defense is still one of the worst in the NFL. That makes these odds overly optimistic even with an offense that will always put up its share of points.

Cleveland Browns (40:1)

The other Ohio team just missed making the playoffs this year, and they should be a team to be reckoned with next season. Signing coach Romeo Crennel to an extension was a solid decision.

Arizona Cardinals (40:1)

The Cardinals had an up and down year under first year coach, Ken Whisenhunt. To make the playoffs, the team needs Matt Leinart to stay quarterback all year long.
